WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK-END - JANUARY 11-13 To start the New Year off on the right foot, we’ve come up with a fun and varied program for the weekend, combining vegetarian food, outdoor adventure and a ‘fragrant’ experience!

Treat yourself to a vegetarian meal!

Over the holidays, did you overindulge with all that comfort food from your family? Give your stomach a break and sample one of the region’s vegetarian restaurants. There are nine such eateries that offer light, tasty dishes with loads of flavour.

Sign up for the Coupe Quebec SBX Bromont

Open to both amateurs and professionals, the Coupe Québec SBX Bromont is a snowboard cross competition during which four snowboarders race one another down a trail studded with obstacles, jumps and tight turns. The first two snowboarders to traverse the finishing line, go on to the next stage of the competition, until they reach the grand finale! Invite your friends to join you in this challenging outdoor activity and who knows, maybe it will be you standing on the podium? Sign up online (until January 10). 6pm at Bromont montagne d’expériences, Versant du Lac

Learn all about ice fishing

Head for Coaticook’s Parc Découverte Nature (Nature Discovery Park) to learn all about ice fishing or to improve your fishing skills. Cut a hole in the ice, bait your rod and wait for the fish to show up! If you’re not sure how to do all that, guides are on hand to help. This is an activity best suited to you and your family or a group of friends, because the minimum number of participants is 15. Rods and bait are provided.

Reservations necessary. Subject to ice conditions and the weather.

Visit the Grange du Parfumeur

Drop by the Grange du Parfumeur and let Alexandra Bachand, a perfumer and co-owner of the business, tell you how she creates her artisanal scents. A tour of the premises includes the office where fragrance formulas are designed and the laboratory where the perfumes are created. And while you’re there, why not purchase one of these exclusive scents, made by hand from pure Canadian grain alcohol?

Saturdays from 10am-4pm. Chemin des Pères, Magog
