A world film festival, taffy on snow, a couple of crazy costume competitions and an RV fair are on the agenda for this weekend.
If you’re a movie buff, this is your big chance to enjoy the Festival Cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke – a festival of films from around the world. It kicks off on April 4 and the multilingual movies feature directors and actors from all over the globe, showing viewers a very different perspective. The film fest features more than 100 screenings and 20 activities at a dozen venues around Sherbrooke and you can design your own festival-going schedule. On offer are roundtable discussions, debates, master classes, exhibitions, conferences and family activities – a rich cultural experience for every age group!

The Savonnerie des Diligences is hosting an event offering a maple syrup treat amid the heady scents of a soap factory! The products made by this establishment contain only local, environmentally-friendly ingredients and this weekend, you can sample taffy on snow. As well, there will be a bonfire, music and some surprises….

Snow on the beach at Mont SUTTON
Try your luck at jumping across an almost 100-foot pond on skis or on a snowboard. It doesn’t matter whether you make it or not. The important thing is to put on a good show! Participants with the best outfit or the most spectacular landing will have the opportunity to win a prize. A BBQ and après-ski with live entertainment adds to the party ambience!

Raccoon Downhill at Mont-Orford
Splashing around in a pond isn’t your thing? Head to Mont-Orford which, once again, is organizing the Raccoon Downhill, a friendly race on a trail modified with moguls and jumps. Timed downhill runs, costume competitions, prize draws, food kiosks with regional products, entertainment and a lot more are on the agenda.
Saturday, April 6. Registration starts at 8am. Race starts at noon | Mont-Orford Ski Centre
Gather some research on current trends to plan for your summer vacation! At the RV Fair in Sherbrooke, 40 exhibitors will be on hand, showing off all the latest equipment and gadgets in the world of recreational vehicles and camping.
