This weekend, Chartierville will be hosting the Musique aux sommets festival (August 16-18). The theme is going to be the big hits of the 1980s. The Cajuns and the Boogie Wonder Band, along with the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra and Les Boomers, are headlining this musical event, evoking fond memories of the past!

There will be a number of other activities during the outdoor festival – a mechoui dinner, a dance performance and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rides. Also on site will be a ‘family village’ with inflatable games, an art exhibition, artisans and food stalls selling local produce.

The Cookshire Fair

You can’t pass through the region of Haut-Saint-François without visiting the Cookshire Fair (Expo Cookshire)! This venerable agricultural event (it was founded in 1845) offers something for everyone – country dances, arm wrestling (and other) competitions and the judging of farm animals such as cows and horses.

An outdoor concert of classical music

On Sunday, August 18 at the parc des Braves in Cookshire-Eaton, you can enjoy a concert by the Quintette de cuivres (11:30am). While you’re in the area, why not sample a beer at the rustic, 11 comtés microbrewery? Once you’ve slaked your thirst, head back to the parc des Braves to watch a short video about Victoria Hall. It plays on a loop (after the sun sets) and lasts for around 10 minutes.

Sample local fare one of the region’s public markets

On Friday evening, the public markets in Lingwick and Scotstown will be open and they offer a variety of meal options. On Saturday morning, you can sample local products and tasty, oven-baked pizza at the Sawyerville market (Cookshire-Eaton). Eating at one of these public markets allows you to get a taste (in both senses of the word!) of local life and to meet food producers from around the region.

Enjoy your stay in Haut-Saint-François!
