Journées des Sommets - « Peak » Experiences

During the Journées des Sommets 2019, the Megantic region comes alive with a slew of activities. Against a backdrop of the blazing fall colours, the next few weekends offer cultural events, as well as outdoor and sporting activities, set amid magnificent mountain scenery.

  • Hike up Mont Scotch Cap in Piopolis

After you’ve climbed the mountain, if you take a selfie from the peak, you can claim a sweet treat (courtesy of the Piopolis municipality) at the general store in the village. The treat in question is a slice of « Gino’s tart » served with ice cream – something that both adults and kids will enjoy! Don’t miss out though. It’s offered only between 10am-4pm and supplies are limited.

  • Arbre en Arbre in Baie-des-Sables

How would you like to experience the landscape from an entirely different viewpoint? Arbre en Arbre is a « treetop trekking » experience with games, ziplines and other pursuits, conducted amid a forest of greenery. This weekend, youngsters (18 years old and under) can sample all these fun activities for free!

Maison du Granit

Journées de la culture - The days of culture

  • This weekend, local crafts will be showcased at the Maison du granit. As well, there will be a special activity with new residents who have arrived in the Municipality within the past year.

  • As part of the « Days of Culture » organised by the Commission of Art, Culture and Heritage of the Town of Lac Megantic, singer/songwriter Alexandre Belliard is staging his acclaimed « Legends of People » show. His touching performance gives a glimpse into Quebec’s past, depicted through music and song.

  • L’Écho de l’écume: une ode à la Joie poétique océane – This is an homage to the visual arts with a nautical theme, performed by two women on the Scène Desjardins in the Montignac High School (2pm-4pm). Their performance evokes the foam of the waves when sailing over the ocean, interspersed with fragments of poetry, works of art and sea shanties that they sing a cappella.

Celebrate an anniversary!

The Gare’nison microbrewery is celebrating its second anniversary. Mark the occasion by tucking into a good meal, accompanied by one of the tasty beers brewed on site!
