On en avait souvent parlé mais on ne l'avait encore jamais essayé, c'est pourquoi, je me suis récemment rendue au Mont SUTTON avec ma collègue Sarah pour tester le yooner, un drôle d'engin, presque plus facile à manœuvrer qu’à décrire!

Alors... par où commencer? La carrosserie? Un siège à 20 cm du sol monté sur un miniski et muni d'un manche pour garder plus facilement le contrôle. Le système de freinage? Nos pieds qu'on laisse glisser à plat sur la neige avec plus ou moins de pression selon la vitesse voulue. La direction? Le haut de notre corps qu'il faut pencher à gauche ou à droite. La stabilisation? Nos mains qui frôlent le sol. La suspension? Un ressort sous le siège qui permet un meilleur confort. Le coussin gonflable en cas de dérapage? La neige au sol. L'équipement sonore? Les exclamations et les rires de nos compagnons de glisse!
Vous avez toujours de la difficulté à visualiser la conception intégrale du yooner? Voici un petit aperçu en vidéo.
« Nous sommes les premiers au Canada à offrir cette expérience », dit fièrement Nadya Baron, directrice marketing du Mont SUTTON, qui nous accompagnera aussi tout au long de cette matinée de découverte. « Avec le yooner, nous souhaitons diversifier les plaisirs de glisse à la montagne. C'est une très belle activité à faire en complément d'une journée de ski. »
C'est après un passage au centre de location du Mont SUTTON que, yooner en main (l'engin est étonnamment assez léger), nous nous dirigeons vers la remontée II et nous attendons notre tour parmi les skieurs pour filer vers le sommet. Avec le système de débrayage de la remontée, la chaise nous cueille doucement et nous embarquons sans encombre. Le débarquement se fait tout aussi facilement.
Sous les conseils de notre guide Louis-Martin, nous nous élançons sur l'Alouette, une piste facile et parfaite pour l'apprentissage de ce nouveau sport de glisse. Skieuse depuis toute jeune, je me sens un peu déstabilisée par les premiers virages, mais rapidement je trouve mes repères. Même chose pour ma collègue Sarah qui, elle, n'est pas une habituée des sports de glisse. Après une première descente, nous maîtrisons déjà bien la technique... c'est dire à quel point le yooner s'apprivoise vite!
Au fil des descentes, nous suscitons la curiosité des skieurs avec qui nous partageons les pistes. De plus en plus à l'aise sur le yooner, nous nous laissons glisser plus rapidement et nous nous amusons même avec les petites bosses en bordure de piste. À la fin de notre matinée, nous sommes conquises!
