Piecing The Story Together

This event is over.
May 26, 2019 ~ Oct 13, 2019

Until October 13th, 2019.

The Missisquoi Museum in Stanbridge East presents a collection of antique quilts created by the ladies of the area more than a century and a half ago in some cases. Under the theme “Piecing the Story Together,” you will be able to admire a dozen magnificent individual and collective creations conceived with love by craftswomen.

The oldest of these quilts was assembled in 1760, even before Confederation. They testify to the creativity of these county women. The geometric shapes and colors of each quilt were decided carefully by the seamstresses. It is therefore a part of their individual or collective history that their skillful hands produced each time.

You will also see the tools used to make the works. Sewing boxes, thimbles, bobbins of all shapes will amaze you. The moving pictures of the craftswomen accompanying the quilts, tells us something more about them.

The exhibition is presented daily, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
