Atahuallpa, the last Inca Emperor (1500-1533)

I was born in 1500 in Yucay in the sacred valley near Qosqo. My mother’s name is Kuka and my father, the Sapa Inca (the Only Lord) Huana Capac. The Inca Empire had 10 to 12 million inhabitants at the time and included the most populated large mountain range in the world. We called this immense state Tawantinsuyu, the Empire of the Four Directions.

According to the legend, Inti, the Sun God, sent two of his children, two brothers, sisters, but also husband and wife, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, who came out of Lake Titicaca (in Quechua, the language of my people, this was known as stone puma) with a golden stick in hand. Their mission was a diplomatic one, as they were to unite and educate the barbarians in a place where the golden stick would easily sink into fertile soil.

As the son of the Emperor, it was the most brilliant wise men of Qosqo as well as my father himself took care of my education from a very young age. When I was two years old, they celebrated my transition from baby to child (guagua in Quechua) with a ceremony for my first haircut.

Relive the great moments of the Inca civilization as well as its demise, with the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, through the voice of Atahualpa himself, the last Inca emperor!
