Stuck for something to do this weekend? Well…. Please read on!

Bingo with a cultural twist

The Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré is staging a « poetic bingo » evening organized by the Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke – a unique event the entire family can enjoy. It works just like a regular bingo. Players put their chips - one by one - on their cards and when they fill them up and are able to shout « BINGO! », they’ll be treated to a short theatrical performance, a musical surprise, a funny story, or a poem.. The game resumes in the normal way until they reach the end and the much-anticipated jackpot!

Friday, November 15 at 7pm │ Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré, Sherbrooke │ The event lasts for 60-90 minutes │ Cost : $15 per ticket or $52 for a 4-ticket family package

Attend a screening of Bienvenue à Nain at Refuge des Brasseurs

Calling all outdoor lovers and ski aficionados! Come and spend an evening immersed in the wide open spaces of the Labrador coast, during the screening of Bienvenue à Nain (« Welcome to Nain »), a movie presented by Estski that documents a backcountry ski expedition. Participants in this exciting, off-piste adventure will give a talk after the film. While you’re at the Refuge des Brasseurs, why not sample a couple of the brewery’s flavourful beers, accompanied by a plate of grated cheese nachos or boar poutine?

Sunday, November 17 (7:30pm – 10pm) Refuge des Brasseurs, Sherbrooke │ $6 in advance, $10 at the door

Doing good with a dip in the spa

This Sunday, while you’re enjoying some rest and relaxation at BALNEA Spa, you can also do some good for the Fondation des étoiles (« Foundation of Stars »). Throughout the entire day, BALNEA will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the « thermal experience » to the Foundation, which conducts research into illnesses that affect children. You can bring your own kids along as well. Sunday happens to be having a Petits Balnéens morning, when children aged 7-13 are welcome to use the spa facilities.

Sunday, November 17│ BALNEA Spa

Time to start shopping (already!) at the Christmas markets

It’s that time of year again! This weekend, throughout the Eastern Townships, a number of Christmas markets, in anticipation of the festive season, are going to be in full swing - Windsor, Dudswell, Waterloo, Saint-Catherine-de-Hatley and St-Ludger, to name a few. And in Granby, word has it that Santa Claus and his merry little elves will be parading through town (Saturday, from 4:30 pm onwards).

Tuck into a warming fondue

There’s a chill in the air, but you can warm up with a delicious fondue. Whether you like to dip chunks of cheese or slivers of beef into a steaming pot, you’ll find something to tempt your taste buds in the following article « Where to Eat the Best Fondues in the Townships ».
