What to Do in the Townships During the Holidays

During the Holiday season, the Townships are offering you countless opportunities for spreading joy all around, in the four corners of the region. Feel good moments, that will make you smile, that will make you dream… Moments to collect with your lover or your family. Only one rule: To make the most of these opportunities.

The Magog Ice Trail

We’ll always come back to the skating trail along Lac Memphrémagog, right near Magog’s pretty downtown area. It’s a classic! Pro tip: The sunset over the lake is a spectacular sight, so plan accordingly.

Uphill Skiing in Orford

Already a pro at skinning—or always wanted try? Mont-Orford has several uphill skiing trails and downhill trails accessible inside and outside the station’s opening hours.

Reach the Summit!

Which one? Mont Gosford, at 1,193 metres. From the top, soak in the sweeping views onto the mountains of Vermont, New Hampshire, and the Mégantic region. Don’t forget to snap a selfie!

Feed the Birds

Where? At Centre d’Interprétation de la Nature du Lac Boivin, in Granby. Why? Because this conservation area is renowned for its diverse fauna, including birds that happen to like being hand-fed. It’s fun for grown-ups and totally thrilling for kids.

Did you know that on a very clear day, you can see Montreal from the top of Mont Glen? That’s just one of the fun facts you’ll learn from Sentiers de l’Estrie’s “Winter Hikes” video.

Elf Hunt Event, in Sherbrooke

Some naughty elves are hiding in shop windows and murals in downtown Sherbrooke. With the help of a series of riddles, head out to find them and help Santa Claus bring the magic of the Holidays to Sherbrooke. Until January 8.

Try a Snow Scooter

A Scandinavian tradition which has been gaining in popularity throughout Québec. Where can you go to try one? At the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook on the Promenade trail (3.5 km).

Dog Sleds?

Yes, you can enjoy this activity Saturdays and Sundays when you visit Ferme Rustique MysticWolf in Coaticook.

Everyone! to the Parc des Deux Rivières

The Parc des Deux Rivières in East Angus is a fabulous place for a family outing, especially once the sun has set, and a one-kilometre path will be illuminated for all to enjoy.

A night stroll

From December 22, once darkness has fallen, the Baie-des-Sables tourist resort invites you to explore its luminous trail. Until January 7, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Brome Lake Magic

From December 9 until the end of winter, Coldbrook Park will be illuminated with hundreds of lanterns. Head out for a walk and perhaps seize some of the magic you’ll find here! Take this opportunity to visit the town’s charming Cœur villageois.

No matter who is accompanying you, you will have a magical time through the Rivière aux Cerises marshes, whether it's under the forest canopy or on the 1.2 km boardwalk.

From December 27th to January 7th, come visit the Festival des saunas mobiles of North Hatley. What to expect? Saunas, yoga, meditation, outdoor dance, New Year's Polar Bath and festive happy hour.

Let your creativity take over!

December 26 to January 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., children between the ages of 5 and 12 are invited to the Musée de l’Ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier to take part in the Holidays at Cartonville activity. The concept: build a giant cardboard Holiday village!

Christmas Masses at the Abbey

The Holiday Season will be celebrated by the monks of Saint-Benoît-du-lac Abbey with both day and evening masses. December 24 and 25, December 31 and January 1.
