What to do this weekend – June 26-28

Not to be missed museum exhibitions, a visit underground, sun, sand and swimming, berries ripe for the picking – just some of the great options for a super weekend in the Townships.

Visit Maison Merry in Magog

Maison Merry in downtown Magog, is reopening on June 26. The Merry House, which was once a private home and now a museum, is staging a temporary exhibition on the daily life of Magog's textile workers . And now that the weather has turned summery, you can enjoy a picnic in the grounds of the museum – an area designated as one of three short-term parks where you can sit and eat a carry-out meal from one of the local restaurants.

Wander around the outdoor exhibits at Domaine des Côtes d'Ardoise

This open air exhibition is in the grounds of the Côtes d'Ardoise winery in Dunham – an unusual concept in an unusual venue, the oldest vineyard in the province! Entitled Nature et création (« Nature and Creation »), the outdoor sculpture exhibition is the largest of its kind in Quebec. Wander at will around the paths that crisscross the winery grounds, then end your visit by picking up a bottle or two of the vintner’s excellent wines!

A cool outing – in both senses of the word!

If you’re out with the family and looking for a place to cool down, head for the Capelton Mine in Hatley Township. It is currently offering semi-private (i.e. with a limited number of visitors) underground tours during which you can learn more about the history of this former copper mine and of the mining industry in the Townships. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Enjoy the beaches and the lakes

Summer is here! It’s warm. The weather is beautiful - time to head for the beach! Take a look at our article about places around the Townships where you can soak up the rays, then cool down by taking a refreshing dip in the lake.
