A gourmet event, a scenic road trip, pumpkin picking, a hike in the fall colours – endless options for enjoying this Thanksgiving Weekend in the Eastern Townships!

View thousands of migrating birds

Every autumn, as regular as clockwork, thousands of migrating birds gather at the Burbank Pond in Danville – evidence of the changing season and an enjoyable spectacle for young and old! There will be a number of family-friendly activities – birdwatching, an introduction to ornithology, a presentation about birds, entertainment and music.

Follow the Panoramic Sheds Circuit

Fancy a road trip to view the changing leaves? The Circuits des Sheds panoramiques in the region of Haut-Saint-François, is just such a route! With the recent addition of the Ascot Corner Shed, the circuit now encompasses eight sheds - lookout points where you can enjoy incredible views and at the same time, learn something of the local history.


Les Comptonales – a ‘tasty’ gourmet tour!

Six venues and more than 50 producers and artisans participate in this popular annual event - la virée gourmande des Comptonales. A (free) shuttle bus takes you on a gourmet tour, stopping at Domaine Ives Hill, Verger Gros Pierre, Cidrerie de Compton, Fromagerie La Station, Érablière du village and Parc des Lions. En route, you’ll be able to sample fresh, flavourful food and discover some unique products. And don’t miss the Grand marché des Récoltes – a market featuring harvest fare, which will be held on Thanksgiving Monday (October 11) in the village of Compton.

Last chance…. to camp?

Most of campgrounds close after this weekend so that will be your last chance to pitch a tent, park your trailer or go glamping. (One exception is at Camping du Lac Lyster where you can rent a ready-to-move-in, fully equipped unit.) The weather outlook for Thanksgiving is warm and sunny so don’t delay. Book now!

Go pumpkin picking

Whether you’re planning an outing with your significant other or with your family, pumpkin picking is one of those traditional fall activities that doesn’t require too much effort! Several farms in the Townships offer this U-Pick opportunity. As a bonus, you’ll have enough pumpkins for a seasonal meal or to decorate your home!

Hike amid the fall colours

Is this your favourite time of year to go hiking? Discover five, lesser-known trails that offer spectacular views. The landscapes, clad in their vibrant fall colours, will take your breath away!
