What to do this weekend – October 22 to 24

Wondering what to do this weekend? We’ve got some suggestions!

Go hiking

Yippee! Most of the trails that were closed to hikers because of the hunting season are open again this weekend and next weekend, however, from November 6, they will once more be out of bounds. Take advantage of the ‘in between time’ to explore Mont Hereford, the Sentiers de l’Estrie hiking network or Mont Singer. Spectacular views guaranteed!

Geo-rally around around Val-des-Sources

A novel way to explore this city is by geo-rallying – either by car, by bike or on foot! Download the app, which will reveal the caches around a choice of three themed circuits (and the city) and in the process, learn about the history and heritage of Val-des-Sources. A unique adventure for the whole family!

Until November 15 | Val-des-Sources | Free

Discover the local ciders!

The apples are picked and now it’s cider time! A brand new event – La Grande Presse – will let you take a peek behind the scenes to see how how cider is produced in Quebec. Visitors will be able to tour the cider-making facilities, chat to cider makers, see how the apple presses operate (and produce your own cider), attend workshops and sample the delicious apple drink. Four Eastern Townships cideries will be participating in this first edition of La Grande Presse.

Stock up on supplies at a farmers’ market – perhaps for the last time this year?

The farmers’ markets are closing up shop for the season….This weekend however, you’ll still be able to stock up on fall vegetables at the Marché public in Sutton, the Marché de la Gare (Sherbrooke), the Marché public in Granby and the Mante du Carré in Danville. (The latter stays open year round.)

Visit ASTROLab at Mont Megantic

An evening of astronomy at the foot of the mountain in Mont Megantic National Park. A multimedia show (inside) and a session of stargazing (outside) will make you appreciate the wonders of the heavenly universe…

Saturday, October 23 and Saturday, October 30 (7:30pm-9pm) | Reservations essential
