The fall is making itself felt in the Townships, heralding a colourful season (in both senses of the word!) with a multitude of activities! Here are some suggestions for this weekend:
La Route des Concerts is themed around performances of classical music and by following this route, you’ll discover lesser-known venues, driving through countryside you might not have explored before. This weekend, two concerts are on the agenda – one at St. Mark’s Chapel (Sherbrooke) and the other at the Emmanuel United Church (Cowansville).
Check the concert program and reserve online.
Along the Townships Trail, there have been strange goings-on…. A theatre troupe, presented by Productions Traces et Souvenances, performs this unusual nail-biter all around the region and this Saturday, the actors will be performing in Sherbrooke. Spooky and kooky, but great fun!
Saturday, September 24 | Lennoxville Town Hall | 1:30pm
For over 20 years, the general public have enjoyed meeting local artists during Sherbrooke’s La Grande Virée Artistique. This year’s edition of the annual studio tour will be no exception. It features more than 31 artists and craftspeople who are opening their homes and workplaces at 24 different locations around the City of Sherbrooke. Download the ONDAGO app for a map and further information.
September 23, 24 and 25 | Check the schedule online.
If you love cycling, this weekend offers you two great opportunities to pump those legs and inhale the crisp, autumn air! The events are being held in the Brome-Missisquoi region (100 to B7) and Lac Mégantic (Grand Fondo). During the 100 to B7 (where former professional bike racer, Lyne Bessette, used to train) participants can cycle along a 30, 70 or 100 km-long route. The Grand Fondo offers a choice of 57, 90 or 127 kms and for diehard cyclists (stamina required!), the challenge of pedalling up Mont Morne.

Grand Fondo | September 25 | Register online or at the site | Centre Sportif Mégantic
Among the most spectacular views in the Eastern Townships – especially in the fall – are from the top of Owl’s Head. For the next three weekends, visitors to the mountain can enjoy panoramas of colour by packing a picnic and hiking to the summit (or taking the chairlift). During the weekends, there will also be craft displays and activities for young and old. Don’t miss an outing to witness the yearly miracle performed by Mother Nature!
Weekends, from September 24 to October 10 | Access to the site (and parking) is free
This is the last weekend of the season for the public market in Val-des-Sources. Local produce will be available until early afternoon but then the site will morph into a celebration of all things Latino with dancing, Cuban music, a DJ, Zumba and culinary specialties from Colombia!
Saturday, September 24 |Place de la Traversée | Public Market, 10am-2pm | Fête Latino, 1pm- 6pm
Arts, culture and heritage
