What to do this weekend – December 2-4

December heralds a month of festivities and they kick off this weekend! Here are some suggestions for the many ways you can enjoy the start of the holiday season…

The wineries are now in festive mode

A number of vineyards along the Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route are taking part in the second edition of the “Spécial des Fêtes”. The “Holiday Special” event features food and wine pairings, bonfires, a holiday ambience and a selection of products that make ideal gifts – a great opportunity to stock up on supplies for the holidays!

Saturdays and Sundays |10:30am-4:30pm | Check out the list of participating wineries

A traditional afternoon tea at the Colby-Curtis Museum

How about a family-friendly activity with a difference? The Colby-Curtis Museum, a former Victorian-era family home, will be serving a traditional English afternoon tea with scones, Devonshire cream and cakes. The ambience of past Christmases will put you in the mood for this one – even more so, if you dress up in period costume! On site, there will be music and live entertainment.

December 4 | 11am-2pm | Colby-Curtis Museum | $5 for adults, free for those aged 12 and under | Reserve a place by email: reservations@colbycurtis.ca

Celebrate with family or friends in Orford (Cherry River)

It’s gonna be party time this weekend in the picturesque village of Cherry River. Round up your family and friends and join in the fun! Among the attractions will be a mobile children’s library, an elf hunt, a storyteller, music and traditional dancing, a wreath-making workshop and face painting….In addition to all these, you can pick out your very own Christmas tree and travel around the various venues on a horse-drawn wagon.

BTW don’t forget to bring some money to pay for the workshop materials and if you can, bring some non-perishable goods to donate to the local food bank.

Saturday, December 3 | 10am-3pm | Parc de la Rivière-aux-cerises and the Orford Town Hall

Celebrate the magic of the Holidays

If you’re within easy reach of Granby, you might like to know that Santa and his little helpers will be downtown at 4pm for the traditional Christmas parade. On site: hot chocolate, bonfires and many other festive surprises. Visit the online program to check out the parade route.
