Impatient to find yourself on the snow-covered ski slopes of the Townships!

Published on Nov 26, 2020

I love winter. The prospect of cross-country ski outing, alpine touring and skiing brings me enormous joy! Just to have you become even more excited about going down the slopes, here are a few testimonies from some of our regions’ skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts.

By Yvan Martineau

“I’m crazy about Sutton, because they offer many different types of trails, and glades; plus it’s superb after a big snowfall. Everyone knows each other, I’ve got lots of friends here. It’s a great lifestyle for teens.” Régine Durocher, 15 years old.

“I’ve travelled all around the world, but Sutton is my mountain. And the town is truly unique for its charm and neighbourhood ambiance that I recommend to anyone who’s never been to Sutton. No other place in the eastern part of the continent can compare! The ski resort has the advantage of having two very different hillsides. The first is more conventional, but for more action, you can head out in the Fantaisie sector with its backcountry moguls that will have you ski between spread out birch trees, reminding me of my time in Japan.” Louis-Charles Pilon

“It’s a natural snow-covered skiing domain, where the trails aren’t overly groomed to preserve their pristine aspect. It’s more stimulating than heading down perfectly groomed slopes.” Marie-Leblanc

“I love the Cowansville trail. There are small moguls, like little vales. And, because it’s rather narrow.” Rosalie Boutin, 5 ans (N.D.L.R., In fact, the Cowansville slope doesn’t have any moguls, nor is it narrow, but it does hook up with the Montreal, which has these qualities.)

“I love the Sherbrooke and the Coupe du monde trails because their two diamond slopes, really steep, and I love a challenge. It’s a vast mountain with several sides. ” Charles-Antoine Boutin, 9 years old (N.D.L.R. The Coupe du monde trail has an incline of 27% over 1,140 metres and the Sherbrooke’s incline is 39% over 666 metres.)

“The artificial snow (1500 snow cannons!) ensure us these optimal conditions. This is important for retired skiers who want to ski in safe conditions. For the decor and for eyeing the superb properties while heading down the Cowansville; towards the end of the afternoon, head out to the Cercle-des-Cantons to take advantage of the sun.” Francine Beauregard

“Owl’s Head for me, is pure happiness all year round. In winter, with the lake at our feet, the decor changes every day. It still awes me after 15 years. I suggest you try the Colorado trail. It’s demanding, and offers us the feeling of being challenged while we have a lot of fun. After all, I’m not 20 anymore! With my grandkids, I opt for the Noire, which is set under the Panorama lift. I recommend you also try the Lilly’s lead, an intermediate truly beautiful trail. And you must try the lake side chairlift. When you arrive at the top, you head back down on the Memphré right in front of you. Really, we’re quite spoiled at Owl’s Head.”François Sergi

“What I love about Orford is its great variety of trails. The three summits, each have their own charm. I love the first, Alfred-Desrochers, for its vintage side, Mont Giroux for its glades, and the third, Orford, for its long family trail, its intermediate and expert ones as well; together they offer a nice combination of slopes. It’s not an easy mountain, you need to get to know it. However, it can satisfy the most demanding skiers.” Pascal Viger
