Stanstead-Est

The municipality of Stanstead East is located to the far west of the RCM of Coaticook. With an area of 114 km2, the municipality is crossed by two major north-south routes, Route 143 and Highway 55. Agriculture is very prevalent with dairy, pork, poultry, beef, goat, maple production, cropping, forestry, and nursery sectors. There are also various agritourism businesses featuring pick-your-own fruits, orchards, honey production, garlic, fresh vegetables, and horticulture. Activities are abundant, starting with the golf course, which provides splendid views of the region, a nature trail to observe some 100 bird species, a bike route for summer, cross-country skiing during winter, as well as several equestrian centres. The wood turtle, an endangered species, can be seen in this area along the Tomifobia River, which flows through a large portion of the Stanstead East area. A small airport, numerous observation points, various businesses, and attractions make Stanstead East a must-visit municipality that just has to be discovered.
