Take your pick: adrenaline packed or slow and contemplative?
Close to the Vermont border and nestled at the foot of Mount Pinnacle, Frelighsburg is recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec. The architectural quality and heritage aspects of several of the village’s buildings are remarkable and certainly justify a stop at this stage of the Townships Trail. The Grammar School (1856); the general store, converted into the Sucreries de l'érable Café de Village, where an unforgettable maple syrup pie can be savoured; and the churches built on heights of land instill life into this village core. Apple growing plays a major economic role and adds colour to the countryside with its homemade production sites, cider-houses, and orchards. Many top-quality artistic activities are held in this town. On Principale Street, stop by the Oneka organic farm, whose operations are based on the fundamentals of permaculture, and discover a range of 100% natural body care products. It is not by coincidence that every year, the town is host to the Foire Bio Paysanne Équitable, held in August.
