What to do this weekend – March 6-8

On offer this weekend - a visit to a sugar shack, an outing on cross-country skis, an evening of beer tastings with brews from around the region and a night-time excursion into the forest. It’s going to be pretty hard to choose…

Indulge your sweet tooth!

The sugaring off season has begun! Visit one of our many maple groves, tuck into a traditional meal, sample taffy on snow and purchase some sweet treats to take home. C’mon! Gather up your family and friends and indulge your sweet tooth...

Explore the Ruiter Valley on cross-country skis

Do you know the Ruiter Valley in Mansonville? It’s a spectacular tract of wilderness, criss-crossed with 30 trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Journalist Simon Diotte recently visited this jewel of nature and he describes it in his most recent blog.

Have fun at Festiglou

The college students from the CEGEP in Sherbrooke are organizing Festiglou (a portmanteau of ‘festive’ and ‘igloo’) - an evening of beer tastings featuring local microbreweries. Participating beer makers include Auberge Sutton Brouerie, Siboire, Moulin 7 and La Memphré. The team from L’Gros Luxe restaurant will be on hand to provide delicious finger food and singer Tim Brink will wind up the evening with a terrific live show!

Saturday, March 7, from 4pm | Basement of Saint Michel Cathedral, Sherbrooke | Tickets available online

A night hike through a forest filled with fantasy!

Yamaska National Park is staging a night-time walk through the forest – Nocturnia - where the trees are transformed into Mother Nature’s ‘theatre’. Along a 2.5km trail, walkers have to ‘rescue’ the Queen of the Salamanders (symbol of the Park) who is trapped in the frozen lake. This is a particular fun activity for children. They’re given a coloured lantern to light the way and at the end of the walk, are welcomed with a hot chocolate and a roaring campfire!

Fiday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 (7pm-9pm) | Yamaska National Park | Reservations required
