Frequently Asked Questions - Covid-19

Whether you’re a visitor, or a member of Tourism Eastern Townships, and have some questions concerning the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19)? Read on to find out more!

As you know, the government has established a colour code associated with how the Covid pandemic is evolving throughout the different regions of the province. As of Monday, May 10, the region will return in the red zone. Here is how the government has defined this colour level:

*Level 4–Maximum Alert includes targeted and additional more restrictive measures that could extend to prohibiting non-essential activities in situations where risk cannot be sufficiently contained, while avoiding the generalized confinement that was experienced during the first wave of the pandemic as much as possible.

For example, the dining rooms of restaurants and microbreweries are closed. Delivery and takeout is possible. Museums, cinemas and auditoriums remains open, in compliance with the measures in force.

Also, inter-regional travel is not recommended. For citizens of the region, travel are prohibited to regions at level 2 (yellow zones).

What are the Eastern Townships’ territorial limits?

Some of the Eastern Townships’ bordering regions aren’t all on the same alert level. Many among you have been wondering whether certain cities and towns are truly part of the Townships.

Although some cities—Granby, for example—are part of the Montérégie’s administrative region, in health matters, they’re under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Townships.
