What to do this weekend – October 2-4

Autumn in the Townships is just magnificent! Here are some suggestions for a memorable weekend.

Get outside and revel in the fall colours

Throughout the region, the fall colours are at their peak and now is the time to enjoy nature’s glory to the max. There are endless ways to enjoy the colour season – by taking a vigorous mountain hike, a gentle stroll through a forest, a bike ride on a country road, paddling across a lake… Take a look at our special fall colour section where you’ll find a slew of suggestions.

Squash and pumpkins – ripe for the picking at Plantations Stéphan Perreault

Head out to Val-Joli with a friend or close family to Plantations Stéphan Perreault. There you’ll find a variety of squashes and pumpkins, just ripe for the picking! Armed with a wheelbarrow (available on site), you can wander around the fields, searching for the very best pumpkin to either use as a fall decoration or to eat. For a perfect day in the outdoors, don’t miss the mini ‘haunted’ house, the little farmhouse and the cornfield labyrinth.

Open daily from 9am-6pm | Plantations Stéphan Perreault, Val-Joli (Windsor)

The birds are heading south….

Why not organize an outing with the family to watch the birds as they prepare to migrate? There are four places where you can do just that. You’ll be able to spot snow geese, barnacle geese and other species of our feathered friends as they gather to get ready for their long journeys. We’ve included suggestions for some nearby places where you can get a bite to eat.
