On the agenda this weekend – a museum visit, a bouldering centre, a nature walk and gourmet products to tempt your taste buds….

A new exhibition at Sherbrooke’s Museum of Nature and Science

The exhibition, entitled Dans la Chambre des merveilles (In the Chamber of Marvels), visitors are led on a journey around the globe, courtesy of 1,000 rare objects – some of them exotic, others simply unusual – which are on display throughout the museum. Among the curiosities are a calf with two heads, the jaw of a whale, a spherical astrolabe, scientific instruments designed during the Age of Enlightenment and many other strange objects gathered down the years by various collectors. Have we piqued your curiosity?

Until September 6, 2021 | Reservations essential. (Only 25 visitors per hour are allowed into the Museum at one time).

Pop into the new boutique at Fromagerie Nouvelle-France

This company specializes in cheese made from sheep’s milk and you’ll find a great selection of their products at a brand-new boutique in Racine. Its most popular product is the award-winning Zacharie Cloutier – selected as the ‘Best cheese in Quebec’ in 2011 and 2014. There are many other local products for sale, such as wine and sweet treats from around the region.

Try bouldering – wall climbing to you and me!

Do you like to give your body a good workout? Head for Backbone, a bouldering centre in Bromont where you can practise wall climbing, minus a rope or safety harness! Not only can you enjoy the phyisical (and mental) challenge of this fast-growing sport, but you can hang out with other like-minded souls while you sip on a coffee or simply relax on a terrasse.

Reservations required, allocated by time slot

Maple products to make your mouth water

Are you enjoying the sugaring-off season yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Several of our sugar shacks and restaurants are currently serving traditional, seasonal meals to eat either on site and or to take away. In the region, you’ll also find lots of maple-flavoured goodies made by local producers. C’mon. Time to pig out!

Wildlife viewing

Spring has sprung! The Eastern Townships is blessed with unique places where you can observe the birds and wildlife that make their appearance at this time of year. Wetland areas with rich ecosystems, such as the Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises (Magog), Étang Burbank (Danville), Marais Maskinongé (Stratford), Parc écoforestier (Johnville), to name a few, offer rich opportunities to stroll amid natural surroundings, listening to the birdsong from the many species that return in the spring.
