Our cities and towns all have something unique to offer you. Whether it’s a place, a product, a landscape, an attraction or an event, you’ll always have at least five good reasons for visiting them! Here's Martinville.

By Carolyne Parent

The mill that Daniel Martin built by the Rivière aux Saumons around 1838 is gone, but as far as his town is concerned, it’s doing quite well for itself, thank you very much. Located halfway between Sherbrooke and Coaticook, this agricultural municipality showcases a quality of life that even birds recognize! In fact, more than fifty feathered species, among these shorebirds, find shelter by the river and the reservoir. Some of them live here year-round, while others are only in transit during migration periods.

Good to Know: In September and October, we can admire impressive V formations of Canada geese and snow geese flying high above in the sky. However, the real show unfolds around the area’s waterways!

You’ll also find yourself in the company of a commemorative effigy of Oscar Lessard , the last owner and manager of the saw mill, thanks to which the municipality prospered.
