What to do this weekend – December 9-11

Only two weeks to go before the Holidays arrive! Like most people, you’re probably rushing around preparing for one of the most festive times of the year? If so, here are some ideas about how to prepare for Christmas and New Year and where to enjoy seasonal activities. Added to those are suggestions for gourmet treats for the table and unique gifts to tuck under the tree…..

Local delights of all kinds

As you travel around the Townships, you’ll come across cozy little boutiques and gourmet food shops filled with local delights! You’ll encounter fun, outdoor experiences too – from tubing to skating along a linear park. Check out our special feature on gift ideas to share with your loved ones.

Feast on local products

Are you entertaining friends or your family this year? If so, you can plan a wonderful feast with 100% local produce. There is such a wide choice of regional goodies on the market that you can plan an entire meal with supplies sourced entirely from the Townships – from the aperitif to dessert... Check out some Holiday meal ideas right here!

Plan an outing to the theatre

How about an outing to the Townships’ popular Lac Brome Theatre? Quartom, a male quartet who sing a cappela (without accompaniment) are performing their Christmas show on Friday. Joyous and festive songs will be the order of the day – some humorous, others more classical. The theatre is in the picturesque village of Knowlton, so take time to wander around its cute boutiques, chatting to the locals and looking for that “special something”.

A trip back in time

This year, Merry House is hosting a brand-new Christmas market but with the ambience of yesteryear! Local craftspeople, entertainers and characters in period costume will be onsite at this heritage building (now a museum), one of the oldest homes in Magog. Santa will also be making an appearance just after taking part in the traditional Santa Claus Parade along rue Principale (Main Street). Your little ones can tell him what they want for Christmas!
