Once you’ve settled in your accommodation, head outside to discover this 1,000-acre estate! Le Vertendre offers 15 km of marked trails, perfect for stretching your legs right in the heart of the forest. You could start with a walk on the Courageux trail. This 1.8 km loop starts out from the Lac de la Source and continues along the Lac aux Castors. On the way you’ll discover the Zoobox sector while enjoying an amazing view of the area.
Need a refreshing moment? Take a canoe or a kayak out and explore Lac aux Castor’s calm waters. You’ll find a lake brimming with wildlife, with beaver dams, goose nests, croaking frogs, and much more! Indeed, the perfect activity for observing the local wildlife while enjoying a peaceful moment.
Paddleboarding is the ideal activity to combine relaxation and pleasure while you test your balance. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find your own rhythm as you paddle your way across the lake, admiring the magnificent view while experiencing an amazingly restful moment under the sun.
Lac de la Source is also the ideal place to have a picnic, to swim in the lake or simply to bask in the warmth of the sun. For your younger ones, a well-designed sandbox, along with a few raised wooden footpaths, will have everyone looking for frogs or even try their hand at trout fishing! Feel like a workout? Perhaps a game of beach volleyball will do the trick! All this as you enjoy a splendid view looking out onto Mount Orford.
Gain some height! You’ll love hiking up Mount Sylvio-Lacharité. Covering a total distance of 4.1 km out and back, the trail will lead you along streams and cascades; and once you’ve reached the top, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking the Eastern Townships.
Would you like to further explore the trails? Rent a fatbike, or an electric one, and head out on the 8 km of private trails taking you across the entire estate. Whether you’re on your own or with a group, it’s a great way to discover the forest from a different perspective… at your speed!
Only five minutes from the parking area, a natural waterfall welcomes you for a dip (of course, the flow will depend on the quantity of rain received during the season). The basin is directly fed by the mountain and is quite refreshing!
