Autumn in the Townships, region's fans share their favorites

Published on Oct 1, 2018

Why should you come to the Eastern-Townships this autumn? Five faithful visitors share their not-to-be-missed activities in the region.

Carolyne Parent

I love the Eastern Townships because . . . of its colourful mountains and the aromas I find in the region’s forests. It’s somewhat of a cliché, but they give me such highly renewed energy.

A place I particularly love is. . . Sutton and its mountain. We have already been on our first chairlift ride. The hikes are also very pleasant. And, with our children, we enjoy visiting the alpaca farm.

This season I plan . . . to fill up on wool at the Mont Tricot wool boutique. Also in Sutton, with winter approaching, I will learn how to snowboard. We’ve already rented our winter mountain cottage!

Andrée-Anne Pelletier, Manager – Corporate Public Relations

I love the Eastern Townships because. . . The colours seem much brighter here than anywhere else in Quebec.

A place I particularly love is . . . The magnificent Missisquoi Valley road that heads out to Mansonville. I also like the general store in Saint-Armand because it bears witness to bygone days while being at the crossroads of the variegated fauna found here.

This season I plan . . . to enjoy one last long bicycle outing.

Pierre St-Cyr, Urban Planner

I love the Eastern Townships because . . . It’s great to go on motorcycle rides on the region’s road network, probably the best of the province, in it comes to this activity. The road conditions allow me to really enjoy the landscape.

A place I particularly love is . . . Lake-Brome because it’s so peaceful.

This season I plan . . . to tour the region’s vineyards (but not on my motorcycle!).

Jérôme Poulin, Banquet Manager for a caterer

I love the Eastern Townships because. . . The hiking trails are absolutely amazing. At Mont-Mégantic, for example, the wild character of the landscape stands out more in this season than at any other time of year. The rock formations are covered with moss and the tree barks with mushrooms. It’s really pretty!

This season I plan . . . to savour the wines I’ll find at Vignoble du Ruisseau, in Dunham.

Lise Jacob, retired teacher

I love the Eastern Townships because . . . walking while surrounded by all these colourful leaves, makes me feel so good.

A place I particularly love is . . . the St-Benoît-du-Lac abbey for the monks’ ciders and cheeses. Plus, the road leading there is so beautiful.

This season I plan . . . to cycle on the Estriade path in Granby. Then, I’ll deserve to savour a glass of local wine with cheese.
