Published on Oct 30, 2018

Some great ideas for a weekend outing – a good doze of culture, gourmet experiences and an adventure in the great outdoors. The choice is yours!

Visit the Grand Salon des Arts

The fifth edition of this Art Fair brings together around 60 artists and artisans. Some 1,000 pieces are being offered for sale at all price levels – paintings, photographs, sculptures and other artworks. By buying something, you are not only supporting the artistic community but contributing to a worthy cause. 20% of profits will go to the Maison Aube-Lumière, a local hospice.

Sherbrooke Exhibition Centre, Saturday, November 3, from 10am-6pm and Sunday, November 4, from 10am-4pm. The cost is $5. (Free for those under 16.)

The sweet sounds of music….

Enjoy the lively sounds of the Sherbrooke Wind Ensemble, which is performing a concert entitled Joue-moi une histoire (Play me a story), inspired by the works of leading literary figures.

Centennial Theatre, Saturday, November 3 at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance.

FREE STUFF at the museums!

On Sunday, November 4 and on subsequent Sundays each month, visitors can get free entry to a number of regional museums. Establishments and organizations that are part of this cultural initiative, include the Fine Arts and Nature and Science Museums in Sherbrooke; Sherbrooke’s Historical Society; Ulverton’s Woollen Mill and the Colby-Curtis Museum in Stanstead. For details of attractions and events, contact them directly.

Enjoy a hearty shot of java or sample some new beers

The cold weather is creeping in and what better way to spend time than to linger for a while over a good cup of coffee? Or how about dropping by one of the region’s microbreweries to sample a craft beer? You’ll enjoy the local ambience and make some interesting memories along the way!

Plan a getaway in the great outdoors

If you’re planning a weekend in the great outdoors or even contemplating a last-minute getaway, why not book accommodation at one of the region’s national parks? There are a number of options, from rustic camps to modern cottages. Spending time in a natural setting is a great opportunity to fill your lungs with fresh air and enjoy a break from your daily routine. For further information, read this article.
