What to do this weekend (April 13-15)

Posted on (not set)

Spring has sprung! You can feel it in the air! As the region welcomes this lovely time of year, there are more and more things to see and do. Don’t be surprised if you find it difficult to choose…

Festival cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke

This film festival in Sherbrooke features movies from Germany, France, South Korea, Denmark, Japan, Mexico and last, but certainly not least, Quebec. It’s a great opportunity to go beyond Hollywood and see what kind of movies the rest of the world is making.

The line-up includes films such as Jalouse (starring Karin Viard and Anne Dorval); Le Vénérable W (a documentary about a Buddhist monk and the violence that is wreaking havoc in Myanmar); Barbara, by Mathieu Amalric; La Terre vue du cœur in which Hubert Reeves reflects on the importance of preserving the Earth’s biodiversity…

We could write many more pages about all the great movies featured in this Sherbrooke festival. Don’t delay! You’ve got until Sunday to submerge yourself in this profusion of foreign films….

Granby Art & Table

Art & Table is a combination of gourmet cuisine and cultural events – tastings, food and wine pairings, dinner shows, exhibitions and more. Chef Hugo Saint-Jacques is Honorary President of this innovative gathering of gastronomes and artists. A dozen unique experiences await you! Check ‘em out!

The opening of the Beaulieu Farmer’s Market

You know spring has well and truly arrived because the Beaulieu Farmer’s Market in Waterville opens this Thursday! It’s a great place for foodies to stock up on fruit and vegetables but also for picking up delicious takeaway dishes and home-baked pastries. The Market will be open from Thursday to Sunday.

Fancy a run? Fido’s invited as well!

The 5th Edition of the Trail de Bromont will take place this Saturday at the National Cycling Centre. Runners can expect forested trails, streams to cross over and a varied terrain. There are several options in terms of distance and level of ability, as well as the ‘Canitrail’ on which participants can bring their dogs (though they must be on a leash).

Splash or Crash

After several years, this nutty event is back! Will you be among the brave souls willing to cross the 50-foot long “Mini Memphré” pond? Dress up in the craziest costume you can imagine for the chance to win a prize of $1,000!

National Pet Show

Cats and dogs but also more exotic creatures! Enjoy them go through their paces this Saturday and Sunday during the Salon national des animaux de compagnie - the National Pet Show - at Sherbrooke’s Exhibition Centre.
