Head Out on an Adventure:

La Frontalière

If you’re not afraid of a challenge, take on this demanding 87 km loop for experienced cyclists. Between Ayer’s Cliff and Newport (US), you’ll follow the Tomifobia Nature Trail and the Beebe Spur Trail. For a more accessible version, a shorter alternative bypasses the need to go through customs. With a difference in altitude of 622 m, the route alternates between steep climbs and smooth descents, offering a good balance between effort and pleasure. It combines paved roads (42 km) and gravel sections, including an unpaved bike path (29 km) alongside the Tomifobia River. Throughout the route, you’ll find rest areas and watering holes perfect for a well-deserved break. To extend the experience, a stop in Newport is a must. The route starts out from the Brown’s Hill parking area in Ayer’s Cliff, but if you don’t want to go this far, you can also leave from the Lee Farm Inn in Stanstead, which is close to both itineraries for this two-day excursion.

Pause Awhile

The Narrows Bridge

After a hearty breakfast at the inn, hop on your bike and cycle the 21.9 km to Fitch Bay where you can make a pit stop at the Narrows Bridge. Built in 1881, this covered bridge spans the narrowest part of Fitch Bay on Lake Memphremagog, hence its name. It’s one of the few covered bridges in Québec crossing over a lake rather than a river.
