Outdoor activities once more on the agenda, national parks that are starting to open up their wilderness ‘playgrounds’ and producers who are starting to fill the public markets's stands...Enjoying the Townships from home is gradually morphing into enjoying the Townships for real, namely outside your house!

Besides, starting next week, we'll be back with our usual formula: What to do this week-end!

Yippee! Freedom in the great outdoors!

Starting May 20, hikers and cyclists will once more be able to take to the trails. Boaters too, can get out onto the water. A number of other outdoor activities can also be enjoyed anew in the Eastern Townships – finally! Below are some venues where outdoor activities are again permitted.

They include our four national parks!

Our magnificent national parks – Yamaska, Mont Orford, MontMegantic and Frontenac – will also be partially open starting on May 20. After being confined for so long, hikers and bikers can give their bodies a really good workout! At this point however, the park buildings will remain closed and there won’t be any on-site services. Entry tickets and fishing permits have to be purchased online – easily done via the SÉPAQ website.

Buy local produce at our public markets

If you aren’t already putting local produce on your grocery list, we encourage you to start doing so now. it’s a healthy habit and also helps the local merchants. A number of markets are already starting to open, namely Melbourne’s Country Market (it started up last Saturday) and the marché de la Gare in Sherbrooke. Sutton’s Saturday Market opens on Saturday, May 23 (8am-1pm). You can also order produce online from Granby’s public market (12 noon).

Here, the region's public markets. (Keep your eye out for the most up-to-date information on our website or the Facebook pages of the various markets.)
