What to do this weekend – June 11-13

Check out some of our suggestions for this weekend.

Take a walk around the lavender fields at the new Bleu Lavande

As from Monday (June 7), Bleu Lavande will officially welcome the public to its new location in Magog. Tour its indoor and outdoor ‘discovery’ areas and don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch!

Discover a new microbrewery

La ferme Brasserie Rurale, Le Sage Brasseur, Hop Station… Are you familiar with these three new beer makers - part of the network of Certified Brasseurs des Cantons? If not, now is the time to discover (or rediscover) their unique brews, as you while away an hour or two on their pretty patios. And by the way, in addition to these three new enterprises, there are around 20 more microbreweries to discover, all over the Eastern Townships.

Climb a mountain peak

For those of you who like to scale the heights, you might like to know that there are half a dozen peaks in the Townships where hikers can climb to an altitude of over 1,000 metres (3,281 feet). The mountains are readily accessible (though challenging) but you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views!

Sample gourmet specialties at a Cafés de village

Some places are so warm and welcoming that you just want to linger for a while. The fact that they serve gourmet specialties certainly adds to their allure. The following are eight such establishments, designated as Cafés de village – the kind of small, cozy eateries that are truly hard to resist!
