Brome-Missisquoi

La Doyenne des vignes in 2 days

A classic among classics, La Doyenne des vignes has been reinvented into a two-day version to make the experience last even longer. This iconic loop in Brome-Missisquoi takes you right into the heart of the Eastern Townships’ wine country, with its bucolic landscapes, country roads, and gourmet stops. Starting in Dunham, the route reveals some of the region’s most beautiful vineyards, dotted with well-kept heritage treasures. Over two days, the pace slows down, discoveries add up—and the more adventurous can even take on the Joy Hill climb.

From Dunham to Stanbridge East (36 km)

Starting from the village centre of Dunham, the first kilometres naturally invite you to slow down—especially as Lake Selby appears along the way. En route toward Frelighsburg, it’s hard to resist a stop at the La Petite Cocagne farm stand by Les Cocagnes, known for its farm-to-table cuisine, now also available in a gourmet grab-and-go format. Then comes St-Armand Road… with its wide-open views over the surrounding vineyards. The route continues to the Guthrie covered bridge, a memorable moment that feels like a symbolic gateway onto the Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route. Iconic vineyards follow one after another, and Stanbridge East soon comes into view, where the day ends beautifully: a memorable meal at L’Espace Old Mill, followed by a well-deserved night at La Cecil House. In short, 36 km later, you’re already won over.

DAY 2

From Stanbridge East to Dunham (72 km)

Longer, but without major difficulty thanks to its gentle elevation, this second day unfolds like an exploration filled with small heritage gems. The morning begins softly at Café Blinn before heading toward Mystic, where the striking Walbridge Barn immediately catches the eye, followed by the charming Rivières covered bridge. Once crossed, the route runs peacefully along the Rivière aux Brochets to Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, revealing the quiet character of the region along the way. Further on, Farnham offers a possible break, but the more curious riders will continue along Chemin du Curé-Godbout to discover Ferme Cidricole Équinoxe—a gourmet stop well worth the detour. On the way back toward Dunham, a final note: stay cautious on a short section of Chemin Noiseux, which is in poor condition. A rich day of discoveries, where every turn brings its share of charm.
