What to do this weekend – March 17-19

Spring is just around the corner! Ready to celebrate and enjoy these longer days? Here are some ideas, starting this weekend…

Sugaring off season is here!

It’s time to pull out your best plaid shirt (!) and enjoy one of our most fun traditions with a bunch of other people. Sugar shacks around the region (see the list below for our seven suggestions) are serving homemade meals with all the trimmings and offering the seasonal activities you’d expect at this time of year. Stuff yourself on delicious, maple-flavoured goodies and try not to worry about the calories!

If you’d rather eat at home, you can pick up a ready-to-eat, traditional meal (or have it delivered) from a couple of places that offer those services. Take a look!

Storytelling time

Enter into the world of fantasy along the snowy trails in the Bois Beckett Park. A couple of story tellers - Pierre Labrèche and André Lemelin – who hail from the enchanted, forested lands of Abitibi, will mesmerize you with their magical tales. But are they true or false? That’s for you to decide! Don’t forget to dress warmly for this storytelling adventure.

Hot beverages served on site. Please bring reusable containers.

Load up on fresh, local produce

Once a month, the Marché de la Gare de Sherbrooke holds a winter market featuring fresh, local produce. This Saturday (a few days before the official start of spring) marks the third year in a row for the market and shoppers can pick up a wide selection of vegetables - beets, celeriac, winter cabbage, mushrooms, spinach, leeks, Jerusalem artichokes..

Saturday, March 18 | 9am-2pm | Marché de la Gare de Sherbrooke

Treat yourself to a romantic, rejuvenating getaway

Cuddle up by the fire. Relax in a whirlpool bath. Relish the feeling of a relaxing massage. Tuck into a tasty meal at a 4-star bistro - just some of the many reasons to pamper yourself with your better half, by staying at a hotel that has a spa. By enjoying the facilities in this type of accommodation, (typically in peaceful surroundings) you can recharge your batteries, ready to face the world!
