Autumn Getaway: 5 reasons for Stopping in the Townships

Brightly coloured landscapes, the scent of apples, the invigorating air, all kinds of harvesting, the special joy of grape harvesting … there are so many reasons for loving autumn, especially in the Eastern Townships.

The Colours are Glorious

The Eastern Townships are, without a doubt, THE region to visit if you want to immerse yourself in nature when autumn settles in! Follow the evolution of our foliage and make a list of places where you can replenish yourself with all the suggestions the people here have to offer you!

The Route des vins is at its best!

First, because the decor is simply sumptuous! Also, because the vineyards, at this time of the year, are especially … effervescent! The region’s vineyards always organize many activities, but even more so during the grape harvesting season (from September 7 to September 29). And, the entire family can participate in many of them: hiking, picnics, music, campfires, carriage rides, pizza tastings, etc. You’ll find everything you need to plan your escapade on La Route des vins de Brome-Missisquoi and La Route des vins de l’Estrie web sites.

The harvesting season just goes on and on!

Of course, we have apple picking, and everyone knows they come in endless varieties in the Eastern Townships! But, if you’re leaning more towards autumn strawberries and raspberries, pears, plums, grapes, squash and leeks, there’s plenty of harvesting to go around when you set foot in the region!

The Region is wide open to mountain biking!

I know it’s no longer a secret that Bromont, Mont Bellevue in Sherbrooke, the Circuits Frontières in East Hereford are some well-established destination for attracting mountain bike enthusiasts. However, because this sport is growing in popularity, every year our mountain bike centres keep adding new elements to their offer! From your youngest offspring to your most experienced boyfriend, the region has trails to satisfy all levels.

Autumn still offers a lot to do for kids!

It’s true, autumn is just around the corner. However, the Townships still have plenty of summer activities for you to explore with your kids! Some examples? Venturing down into the heart of a mine, enjoying a delicious farm brunch, gazing at the stars at the Mont-Mégantic Observatory … consult our list of ideas here!
