Located in the town bearing the same name, Lac Brome has so much going for it: a view on Mont Brome, diverse flora and fauna, plus a beach providing ample opportunity to enjoy all the watersports you can think of. It’s a slice of paradise you’ll want to discover—winter and summer!
With a striking view on Mont Orford and wooded banks (the lake is located in Parc national du Mont-Orford), Lac Fraser is a bona fide Eastern Townships gem. Despite being quite popular in the summer, there’s always a way to seek out a quiet spot to relax and enjoy a day by the water.
Flanked by five municipalities including North Hatley, Lac Massawippi is a sport fisherman’s paradise. It is also notorious among divers, in part because the wreck of the May Flower has been resting there for over a decade.
Located right near the town of Lac-Mégantic, Lac Mégantic completes the picture of a particularly scenic region, complete with lush forest and towering mountains. Whether you want to swim, sail or practice any other water sport, this lake is an invitation to have a great time.
For anyone who practices water sports (including diving) or enjoys a peaceful cruise, Lac Memphrémagog needs no introduction. With numerous beaches, marinas, boat ramps and proximity to Magog’s downtown core, this lake is one of the most popular in the Eastern Townships.
Supremely popular with swimmers and boaters during the warmer months, Lac Stukely is, for the most part, located within the boundaries of Parc national du Mont-Orford. Therefore, it goes without saying that it boasts stunning views that make the perfect backdrop to a memorable summer day.
Grand Lac Saint-François is one of the main attractions in the Parc national Frontenac—and the entire region, for that matter. What makes it so special? Its pristine beauty, for one, as well as a Baie Sauvage that spans 7.5 kms, plus a smattering of islands, peninsulas and bays to explore to your heart’s content.
Fire cider, VéloVolant and alpacas. These are only a few of this area’s quirkier claims to fame. Outdoor enthusiasts will be well served at Bromont or Sutton mountains while those looking to indulge in sips and scenery will be smitten with the Route des Vins and the authentic, charming villages of Frelighsburg and Stanbridge East.
Enjoy a one-of-a-kind cyclotouristic experience at ARTRIA, an open-air museum enjoyed on two wheels. For more family-friendly adventures, don’t miss the Centre d’interprétation de la nature du lac Boivin, Yamaska National Park or Granby Zoo, which is home to brand-new dinosaurs. Roar!
The spectacular lake, picturesque mountains and ethereal Abbey come together to create an unforgettable landscape. Explore both villages (North Hatley and Eastman are as picture-perfect as they are charming) and the great outdoors (Mont Orford is the destination par excellence for sporty types) without forgetting, of course, to slow down and enjoy the sights and sounds of Magog.
Let yourself be surprised by this foodie’s paradise and the diversity of cuisine on offer. Listen to the urban beat of its cultural effervescence and storied history. Finally, walk or ride the 3-kilometre circuit around Lac des Nations, a natural oasis in the heart of the city.
To travel the Voie des Pionniers is to take a step back in time. Your bike is the perfect vantage point to soak in the sights of the farmland. Visit the food producers of Compton to sample local wares and enter Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook to live the magic of Foresta Lumina.
Want to glimpse at eras past? Richmond’s slate roofs, Ulverton Woolen Mills and the Windsor Powder Mills all offer peeks at bygone days in the Val Saint-François area. If you’re interested in ingenuity, you won’t want to miss the impact of J. Armand Bombardier on Valcourt.
It’s home to two eye-opening routes: Chemin des Cantons and Route Verte. If ornithology makes your heart sing, don’t forget to stop in Danville. Into rural innovation? Check out Saint-Camille. Finally, if an outdoorsy adventure is what you’re after, Mount Ham is the place to be.
Trace the region’s Scottish heritage by exploring Lingwick County, the so-called Highlands of Quebec. There’s no gold rush in Chartierville anymore but you can experience its magnetic hill or enjoy the sights of the Townships’ oldest village, Eaton-Corner.
For a little world-class stargazing, visit Parc du Mont Mégantic, the world’s first Dark-Sky Reserve and Quebec’s only national park boasting an astronomy activity centre. With your feet back on the earth, set out to discover five-star villages like Piopolis et Notre-Dame-des-Bois nestled in with scenic lakes, valleys and mountains.

Between its four summits, lakes and streams, the Parc d'environnement naturel de Sutton offers 48 km of marked trails forming loops ranging from two hours to two days. Whether on foot, snowshoes or crampons, these trails are accessible year-round.
Bordering Grand lac Saint-François, this park offers a wide range of outdoor activities for the whole family, including water activities, hiking and cycling. Discover more than 200 bird species and 30 mammal species! You’ll love the park’s lakeside campsites and cabins.
Spread over 12.89 km2 (4.98 sq. mi.), this park enchants visitors with its diverse vegetation, its land and aquatic animals, and its arrow-shaped lake surrounded by forests and fields. Relax under tall trees with massive girths and observe the wildlife that abounds in this oasis of green.
Explore a land like no other by hiking, skiing or snowshoeing. Take part in activities led by nature and astronomy interpreters and enjoy evenings of astronomy under the stars at the first International Dark Sky Reserve.
