What to do this weekend – April 15 to 18 – Easter in the spotlight

Do you, like many others, have a long weekend coming up? Here are some great ideas about how to spend it – in the Townships!

Organize an Easter egg hunt

An Easter egg hunt is always fun for young and old. With the wide choice of chocolatiers and pastry shops all over the region, there’s certainly no shortage of chocolate treats for your loved ones to find!

Plan an outing to a sugar shack

To satisfy your sweet tooth (in addition to scoffing Easter chocolate!) why not visit a sugar shack? We have a number of suggestions where you can tuck into a traditional, maple-infused meal (or order one to go). It’s a good idea also, to take advantage of this weekend to visit some local food producers and stock up on maple products before the season ends!

Pet an alpaca at Verger Champêtre

Le Verger Champêtre, a family farm, will be open during the Easter Weekend (April 15-18). There will be all kinds of attractions – a singer, bonfire, an ‘acrobat’ rabbit and an Easter animal hunt. Visit the animal enclosures and enjoy the unique experience of walking through the orchard accompanied by an alpaca!

Verger Champêtre is open from 9am-4pm and the alpaca walks, which are on a first-come, first served basis, run from 10am-2pm.

Swoosh down a ski hill, perhaps for the last time…

Spring skiing anyone? Depending on the vagaries of Mother Nature, our ski stations will decide closer to the weekend whether or not the weather conditions will allow for a last weekend of skiing…

Friday April 15 will be the last day to ski at Bromont, montagne d'expériences, Owl's Head and Mont SUTTON.

Check each ski resort’s website for the most up-to-date information.

Treat yourself to a locally-flavoured brunch

If you’re planning to have a brunch with family or friends over the Easter weekend, here are some suggestions for places where you can sample dishes made with local ingredients. One of our partners, sommelier Marc-Antoine Bergeron, can advise you on four Townships wines that are perfect pairings with your festive food.

Visit a sacred site

Easter is above all a religious holiday, so why not visit some of the most beautiful sacred sites in the region? The Eastern Townships abounds in buildings that are not only sacred, but true architectural gems.

On our website, you’ll also find images of 10 churches that you can download and print out. The images are depicted in black and white but you and your kids can have fun colouring them in!
